STEAM Showcase - Edgewood Middle School
Date: June 3, 2016
Time: 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM
Event Description
Edgewood Middle School, located in Mounds View, is looking for volunteer judges for the school's STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, math) showcase on Friday, June 3rd, 1:30-2:45.
It is a great opportunity to get into our schools to see how our young people are engaged in the STEAM areas. The students have completed projects or presentations in their STEAM related courses.
Here are a few details:
- Please arrive at 1:30 p.m. for a brief “orientation” and room assignment
- Bring a photo ID to check in at the office
- You will be assigned a classroom and group of students
- You will use a predetermined rubric to assess the work
- Teachers will also be judging at the same time (the teacher will let you know which students/groups to work with)
- Get through as many students as you can, but don’t worry if you don’t finish
- If you get done early, feel free to just chat with students about the class (or you can leave)
- Judging should be completed by 2:35 p.m. so students have time to clean up materials.
- Please check out in the office.
- You may want to park in the side parking lot to avoid the buses at the end of the day (or on the street is fine).
- The teacher will help you get set up with student groups and be in the room the entire time
- This time is meant to be somewhat casual. Students will take the presenting seriously, but don't worry about giving an exact score (it will not impact their grade- teachers have already graded projects)
