Dunn Bros Coffee President & CEO Chris Eilers will be the featured speaker at the next Young Professionals event on Tuesday, October 30!  Dunn Bros Coffee was named the #1 coffee franchise opportunity by Entrepreneur Magazine in 2006 and 2007.  Mr. Eilers will talk about the history of Dunn Bros Coffee, the franchise industry and the traits needed to become a successful business owner.   

 

Brothers, Ed and Dan Dunn, founded Dunn Bros Coffee in 1987 after Ed had attended college in Eugene, Oregon and observed the growing coffee house trend.  In December of 1987, Ed and Dan opened the first Dunn Bros Coffee Shop on Grand Avenue in St. Paul, Minnesota. This was a little coffee shop with a big difference: all the coffee beans were roasted right in the shop to deliver the freshest tasting, highest quality coffee possible.  

 

In 1994, Chris Eilers and Skip Fay opened the first franchised coffeehouse and roastery of Dunn Bros Coffee. In the fall of 1998, Chris and Skip purchased an exclusive right to franchise Dunn Bros Coffee. As a result of the acquisition, Chris and Skip formed a franchising entity, Dunn Bros Coffee Franchising, Inc. The company began franchising in June of 1999. In April of 2001, the company purchased the remaining assets of Dunn Bros Coffee including ownership of all trademarks and licensing agreements. There are currently 95 total Dunn Bros Coffee locations in 8 states (74 in MN), 88 of which are franchised locations and two corporately owned locations.
